Bio

Jacob Blickenstaff is a highly creative photographer, visual journalist and promotional strategist working predominantly in the field of music.  Over the past 5 years, his work has been consistently published in the world’s most prestigious culture and entertainment media outlets, such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Oprah Magazine, Rolling Stone, and National Geographic Traveler. The majority of these placements came through direct involvement and creative relationships with artists, record labels, music organizations and festivals.

Prior to emerging as a photographer, Jacob spent over 20 years living a devoutly musical life; studying and performing music from childhood onwards, performing in orchestras, jazz ensembles and rock bands, reading countless histories and biographies, working in record stores, radio stations and music venues, and most importantly listening to great music.  He is creatively integrated with the culture of music as an insider. The subjects he photographs give consistent feedback that they feel truly seen and acknowledged.

In his photographic career, Jacob has worked with bands, record labels, arts organizations and festivals of all sizes,  showcasing a unique vision in documentary and portrait photography that expresses a musical ingenuity as much as a visual one.
